The Bloglandia Ball!

The Bloglandia Ball is today!
Come and dance the night away,
Drink champagne
Recite the sonnets,
Ogle all the lovely bonnets...
Meet with friends
and share your art,
The Bloglandia Ball
will fill your heart.

I love dresses from this time period... always wanted to swish around the dance floor in one like in Gone With the Wind... so here's my ball gown... I started with an image from a book I have called Petersons 1856... it's bound periodicals from that time period. I made a poster for the ball out of it. Hope you are all enjoying the ball!

Ah this is indeed the perfect poster, I do hope you have given permission to copy and paste it for the Book. Yes to swish and sway in a dress such as that. Nice to meet you!

So beautiful, Pam! I went to an antebellum-style ball in Atlanta in 1989 -- a re-creation of the original premiere ball for the movie (a 50th anniversary of the original premiere). They held a Scarlet and Brett look-alike contest, and many, many people came in costume. It was so much fun. But, I also recall that the ladies who came in those gowns couldn't fit into the ladies' room with those skirts, so they had to stand and not eat or drink anything all evening!

What a lovely dress! I can't stay to long. But I'll be back one day when I'm feeling better. I'd really like to look around if you don't mind. You have such a lovely spot here.

I love this! My Mom and Grandma had framed prints with girls from the same era in their bedrooms. You have done an absolutely astounding job. Just wonderful!

What a lovely poster - I love the dresses from that time period - though I think I'm glad I don't have to wear one EVERYDAY (especially with a corset!), it would be fun to still wear them for special occasions. They flair so beautifully when you twirl!
